This summer began for me with a familiar joy—welcoming a small team of university students to join our missions work Romania!
Just days ago, four young women from Azusa Pacific University arrived to serve alongside RTC this summer. I could see in their faces a desire to embrace new rhythms, a different culture, and unfamiliar places. I also saw in them a resolute trust in God to work through every detail.
This first week, we have intentionally slowed down to adjust, walk the streets, and prepare for what’s ahead. We’ve gathered supplies for VBS and summer camps, but even more importantly, we’ve taken intentional time to pray—for the children, the families, and the moments God has planned during our time here.
One of the most meaningful moments this week came during a visit to a Ukrainian church filled with refugees. In a room carrying the weight of displacement and loss, one of these young women shared what God had been stirring in her heart, with the help of an interpreter (see the image below). It was simple, honest, and deeply encouraging. You could feel a shift in the room—a reminder that even in hardship, hope is still alive and moving.
These are the kinds of moments that are hard to explain unless you’re here. A key part of Remember the Children’s mission is training and equipping the next generation of missionaries and church leaders. In moments like these, God shapes hearts and guides lives toward the mission field—through quiet conversations over meals, shared laughter, and prayers whispered in both confusion and joy.
In the weeks ahead, these students will serve in VBS programs and summer camps, building relationships with orphaned, refugee, and village children who long to be known and loved.
