One of the most meaningful moments this week didn’t happen on a stage or during a program—it happened around a dinner table.
We were sitting in the home of a Ukrainian pastor and his family, sharing a simple, homecooked meal. As the conversation unfolded, they began sharing what it’s been like to leave everything behind because of the war and start over in a new country. There was both heaviness and hope in their story, but what stood out most was their faith and their desire to keep serving others, even in the middle of rebuilding their own lives.
That moment is a picture of why we do what we do.
At the heart of our mission is walking alongside local church and ministry leaders—encouraging them, equipping them, and helping them care well for the people right in front of them. Because when leaders are supported, entire communities are impacted.
We saw that play out all week.
Through our partnership with Agape Church, one of our newer church plants, we helped launch a week of Vacation Bible School. Earlier in the week, the team was out in a local park, inviting kids to come and making balloon animals as way to connect with kids and families. By the time VBS started, nearly 100 children showed up!
Programs like VBS create a natural doorway to build relationships with entire families. As we care for their children, trust begins to grow and opens doorways for us to share the hope of Christ in a genuine and meaningful way.
Later in the week, we visited a small Roma community in a nearby village. The kids welcomed us instantly! After spending time together, we were invited into a family’s home. That kind of hospitality is something you can’t manufacture. It comes through authenticity and relationship.
Throughout the week, our team shared meals, coffee, and conversations with people from Romanian, Hungarian, Ukrainian, and Roma backgrounds. Each interaction added another layer of understanding—not just of different cultures, but of how God is moving through His Church in so many unique ways.
For the students, this week has been full of moments that stretch and shape them. For all of us, it’s been a reminder that real impact doesn’t usually happen in big, visible ways—it happens slowly, through relationships, trust, and presence.
And it’s a gift to be part of it.
