It is my privilege to share a little bit about my time in Romania as an intern with RTC this week. Our team has been working with the kids at Caminul Felix Orphan Home. This ministry is amazing!
The kids in the home and in the surrounding villages truly come from all situations. They all have a story and part of this ministry is providing stability, family, love and care to each child.
Since being here, the Lord has put one specific village boy on my heart.
The first day I met him, he was extremely shy and we only shared a couple of waves and smiles back and forth. I knew the Lord was asking me to be his friend. I then learned he is non-verbal - and I was so moved to see that he is still full of joy!
Then today something happened that touched my heart dearly.
Today he was on a swing set. I came up to him with a huge smile on my face and he smiled back! Then, with his hands, he asked me to follow him. He ran up a hill in the middle of the village and was pointing at the sky, jumping and laughing. He even said a few words to me – “fun” and “happy”!
As we were jumping together for joy on the hill, I was again in awe of God's love for His children. No matter the situations, stories, or disabilities, God's joy is available. Today, I got to experience it with my new friend as we laughed and enjoyed God's creation together.
