For more than 25 years, Remember the Children has helped make Christmas a season of hope for orphaned and at-risk children across Romania. This cherished tradition continued again this year as Alan Meneely and a team of seven traveled to northwest Romania—ready to bring joy, encouragement, and Christ-centered love to hundreds of children.
After nearly thirty years of ministry in Romania, it was a joy to bring the next generation of young leaders to Exponential Europe in Berlin—a gathering of 600 believers from 20 nations passionate about church planting. We believe this movement will help re-ignite the church across Europe.
Spending time with a church that treats you like family is deeply encouraging. For sixteen years, Mountain Christian Church has faithfully supported Remember the Children—through monthly gifts, special projects, and teams who have traveled to serve with us in Romania. Their partnership continues to be a steady blessing.
As we reflect on these 30 years, we are deeply grateful for all God has done and excited for what lies ahead! This anniversary is not only a time to celebrate the past—it’s an opportunity to dream about the future. The focus of this year's conference was specifically discipleship making as a foundation for the church. Remember the Children believes in the crucial role the church plays in communities, families, and the lives of children through the work of spreading the gospel and making disciples. Each one of our RTC churches have a focus on their neighbors and a conviction that Jesus is the source of all real and lasting transformation.
As we step into this new chapter, it brings me great joy to share the beginning of a fresh school year in Tanzania. Recalling our December 10th, 2023, Sunday Stories, we celebrated the conclusion of the second semester with 202 students. This semester, due to our now established reputation, we are thrilled to welcome 221 new students to our school, expanding our school family to a total of 423 students!
New Year is a time of hope and expectation, but for our Ukrainian friends it marks yet another year of war and praying to someday return to a peace filled homeland. There are still several refugees living at the East European Bible College through the support of RTC. EEBC reaches many more refugees in the Oradea region, offering supplies, education, and community. The Ukrainian community also utilizes the campus chapel for Sunday worship services.
What a joy it was to meet new friends and see familiar faces at ICOM 2023. One particular encounter with a couple who were around in the early days of RTC was used by God as an encouragement and reminder. Take some time to read the story below as Andy recounts an experience from 25 years ago that God seems to still be writing and rewriting today.
This week, Andy, Alan, and Beth are visiting Tabora to further equip Eternal Family leaders by offering a series of teachings about a number of topics from values to skills. We pray those in attendance will be able to take these teachings and apply them in their homes. We also hope they are able to share the biblical truths taught this week with those they lead and serve. We believe transformed leaders transform communities, and it all starts with relationships.
